Peaceful Draw in Singapore

Ding Liren is in the lead with a score of 1.5-0.5 after the second game was played today in Singapore. Both players seemed satisfied with the peaceful result. Ding is leading, and Gukesh needs to get back into the match; losing again would be disastrous. The opening was a Giuoco Piano, also known as the Italian Four Knights Variation. This opening has gained popularity recently, but it’s hard to believe that it can give White a serious advantage. After all the bishops were exchanged, the game quickly began to resemble an early draw. It will be very interesting to see what Gukesh will do in Game 3. He should not panic, but trailing is always unpleasant, and Ding will definitely come with very solid preparation that will be hard to beat.
