Who can Win the FIDE Grand Swiss 2025?
The FIDE Grand Swiss 2025 has delivered a thrilling climax after 10 rounds of intense classical chess, with five players—Bluebaum, Firouzja, Giri, Niemann, and Keymer—tied for first at 7/10. Just half a point behind, a few others cling to slim hopes of securing a coveted top-two finish and a spot in the Candidates Tournament.
Grand Swiss 2025 has been a rollercoaster ride for top GMs – from Parham Maghsoodloo dominating the field till the halfway mark to him losing three out of his last four games – many players denied their Candidates dreams as they approached the finishing line. However, many rising stars showed up to the occasion and delivered. Let’s take a look at this analysis from “@chess_insights” (Chess Numbers India) on X:
The analysis takes into account all the possible results and best-case scenarios for each player with a chance to make it to the top 2. Apart from the 5 co-leaders, Abhimanyu Mishra, Arjun Erigaisi and young American prodigy Andy Woodward still remain with an extraordinary outside chance to qualify in extraordinary circumstances. The local fans will have to suffice with their hero, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, potentially only finishing in the top 10, out of contention for a Candidates spot. Chess Numbers India also analysed the best-case scenarios for each player with the chance to qualify.
Such detailed breakdowns by dedicated chess fans not only engage the audience but also highlight the stakes for players, setting the stage for a thrilling final round.

Among the pairings, Alireza Firouzja appears best positioned to reclaim the crown. From the top board to the seventh, every GM has everything to play for. Will 2021 champion Firouzja triumph again, or will a new star like Mishra steal the spotlight? The Grand Swiss couldn’t have scripted a more electrifying finish.
