The Naroditsky Cup – Homage to Daniel Naroditsky

Danny Rensch, Chief Chess Officer and Co-Founder of Chess.com, has announced the special “Naroditsky Cup” for the annual Speed Chess Championship winners. The cup will have the names of all the previous winners engraved and will be the permanent trophy of the SCC.

“While there are going to be other things .. in the coming months .. something we felt that was appropriate .. to pay homage to Danya forevermore was that as of this year .. players will have their names added to the Naroditsky Cup,” expressed Danny Rensch. Naroditsky wasn’t just a speed chess beast in his own right, but also an endearing and eloquent presenter for Chess.com, having commentated several SCC matches in the past. As the chess world continues to mourn the loss of Danya, his spirit will live on vicariously through this cup. This inception of the Naroditsky Cup is being accepted by the fans and chess influencers with open arms, with popular chess streamer and player Nemo replying, “Well done.”

With the Naroditsky Cup now etched into SCC history, Danya’s legacy as a player, commentator, and inspiration endures for generations of speed chess champions to come.
