Javokhir Sindarov wins TePe Sigeman & Co @ Malmö
Two teenagers viz., 19-year-old GM Javokhir Sindarov & 13-year-old GM Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş, stole the show in the TePe Sigeman & Co chess tournament 2025 that concluded in the Elite Plaza Hotel Malmö. The Uzbek star claimed the TePe Sigeman & Co Malmö title with 4.5/7 score while Türkiye talent GM Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus shared the second spot with Swedish GM Nils Grandelius with a 4/7 finish.
A fine first round win against former women world champion Tan Zhongyi of China set the ball rolling for Sindarov. In the fourth round he accounted for Dutch Grandmaster Erwin L’Ami for his second win and drew the rest. An ELO 2741 tournament rating performance with a gain of 3.5 rating points indicates the peak scaled by the Uzbek.
Teenaged Javokhir Sindarov (DOB 08/Dec/2005) is a fast rising GM from Tashkent. These days he’s moving out of the shadows of another Uzbek Super GM Nodirbek Abdusattorov, slowly but steadily. Sindarov was part of the gold medal winning Uzbekistan team from the 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai, India. Consistency is his middle name and more could be expected of him.

Going under the shadow of Sindarov’s performance was another teenager, 13-year-old Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş (DOB 03/June/2011) who shared the second spot with host GM former champion Grandelius Nils. Erdoğmuş, currently the youngest grandmaster in the world, arrived in Malmö with his trainer GM Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. His ELO 2701 tournament rating performance came from two wins, four draws and a lone defeat in the hands of legend Ivanchuk. Age is on his side and the right hands of Mamedyarov is bound to take Erdoğmuş far.
