March 2025 FIDE Ratings: Gukesh officially reaches #3
With the March 2025 update of the FIDE rating list, World Champion Gukesh Dommaraju has officially entered the top three of the world rankings. He’s been flirting with 2800 on the live ratings, and settles in at 2787, a gain of 10 points from February. That’s enough to pass Fabiano Caruana, whose very difficult month sees him drop down to No. 4, which is not a usual place for the American.
Arjun Erigaisi had a tough month as well, losing 24 points and regressing back to fifth at 2777 after having broken 2800 previously. In contrast, Praggnanandhaa gained 17 points and sits in fine company at No. 8.
There are only small changes on the Women’s rating list. Chinese players Ju Wenjun, Tan Zhongyi, and Lei Tingjie rule the pack behind Hou Yifan.
