Magnus Carlsen to Become a Father, Shares Heartwarming News
Norwegian Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen has announced his wife Ella Victoria’s pregnancy via social media. Carlsen did so with the following post on Instagram on May 5, 2025, with an endearing caption, “My beautiful pregnant wife.”
After tying the knot earlier this year on January 4, the couple are expecting their first child. It is apparent that Ella has been carrying their unborn child as she travels with her husband, supporting him through his recent victories at Grenke and Freestyle Chess Paris.
Earlier in a Norwegian podcast, Ella expressed how she thought Magnus was going to be an amazing father as she spoke about the couple’s plan of starting a family. She said, “As soon as time allows. He has a busy schedule. I am not sure how we are going to manage the travelling with kids, but it’s definitely something we both want,” followed by the remark, “He is going to be an amazing father!”
The announcement quickly garnered thousands of likes and congratulatory messages from followers and creators, including Anna Cramling, Keti Tsatsalashvili, etc.
