Magnus Carlsen Scores 100% in Titled Tuesday
Despite having a quarterfinals encounter against one of the strongest players in the world the next day, World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen found time to participate in the Late Titled Tuesday on Chess.com last night (April 8, 2025) from Paris. The Norwegian did not just play but obliterated the field by scoring an astounding 11/11!

It is only the seventh time overall and the third time that Magnus has achieved the feat of scoring 100% in the weekly online blitz tournament. Carlsen has been a proponent of Freestyle Chess for some time now, and it is apparent why–as it rules out the need for preparing openings. A fresh position presents itself before the round, and perhaps the only preparation the players require is to stay tactically sharp. Playing a competitive online blitz tournament was Carlsen’s way of preparing. Let’s see how Magnus deploys his weapons against the Uzbek prodigy in their quarterfinal encounter.
It was Hikaru Nakamura whose absence was rather curious from Titled Tuesday. It seems like the American is not planning to leave any stones unturned in his attempt to take down India’s no. 2, Arjun Erigaisi.
