Hans Niemann Takes the Lie Detector Test – Comes Out Clean
Earlier in March, American Grandmaster Hans Niemann played an 18-game blitz match against Russian Grandmaster Daniil Dubov in Moscow. Niemann had to taste defeat as he lost the match with a narrow margin and, as per match conditions, was obligated to take a polygraph test to answer ONE question chosen by his opponent, Daniil Dubov. The question was, “Have you ever cheated in over-the-board chess?”
Soon after the conclusion of the match, Niemann, in one of his YouTube videos, stated, ““I have no intention of giving someone like Dubov, who behaved honestly like a child; the honour of asking me a question, lie detector, which is pure pseudoscience when I have honestly nothing to prove.” But after being called out on the hypocrisy, Niemann clarified that he will take the test in neutral conditions, which the American had been trying to arrange.
The wait is finally over since, through his latest posts on X, Niemann confirmed that he has taken the polygraph test;
No documentation of the test is publicly available as of now, but Hans, through his own admission, confirmed that he has come out clean after he answered “No” to the question of whether he had ever cheated over the board. In succession, Niemann has offered Dubov a rematch, announcing that he will be visiting Moscow in 2 weeks from now. Will we witness a rematch? If yes, who’s your favourite to win this time?
