Gukesh vs. Ding, Game 11 Opening: Instant trouble

The eleventh game of the 2024 Chess World Championship features 1. Nf3, avoiding 1. e4 and 1. d4 again as Gukesh (White) pushes for a dynamic game against Ding Liren (Black) with very early c4 and b4 pushes. Ding is thinking from the get-go, likely not surprised by Gukesh’s insistence on a fighting game, but unsure about how to steer away from the worst. He has now spent 20 minutes deciding on his fourth move!
