Esports World Cup 2025: Dubov, Artemiev, Giri sign in
Russian speed experts Daniil Dubov and Vladislav Artemiev (both Team Spirit) along with charismatic Dutch star Anish Giri (Team Secret) signed into Esports World Cup 2025 teams where chess is scheduled to be held at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 31st July to 5th August, 2025.
Many top Grandmasters including World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen, have signed in so far and will now attempt to qualify for the $1.5 million mega event which has a staggering prize pool of $70 million.
Including the trio above, 17 GMs have jumped the bandwagon of Esports bonanza. The signed in list with respective teams are:

3-4 Hikaru Nakamura, Alireza Firouzja (Team Falcons)
5-7 Wesley So, Olexandr Bortnyk, Nodirbek Abdusattorov (Team Na’Vi)
8-9 Daniil Dubov, Vladislav Artemiev (Team Spirit)
10 Anish Giri (Team Secret)
11 Arjun Erigaisi (Team Gen G)
12 Ian Nepomniachtchi (Team Aurora)
13 Yu Yangyi (Team Wolves Esports)
14 Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (Team Vitality)

Introducing chess as a part of Esports World Cup 2025 edition, the total entrants shall be restricted to 16. The Champions Chess Tour shall pick up 12 qualifiers to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia while the four remaining spots will go to players the details of which are awaited.
Present standing of top 12 after the first of the two legs of qualification are: Carlsen, Nakamura, Nepomniachtchi, Duda, Firouzja, Erigaisi, Esipenko, Yu Yangyi, Caruana, Artemiev, Wei Yi, Giri.
But things can change with strong performances on the second leg, which is scheduled from May 18-23, 2025.
