Daniel Naroditsky features in ‘Kids vs. Stars’
GM Daniel Naroditsky took on four of chess’s brightest young stars in a simultaneous exhibition on Monday, as part of chess.com’s “Kids vs. Stars” series. His challengers:
– American FM Tani Adewumi, age 14
– British WFM Bodhana Sivanandan, age 9
– Canadian IM Aaron Mendes, age 12
– American IM Alice Lee, age 15
Naroditsky’s opponents, playing Black, had a 15+15 time control to his 60+15.
Adewumi was the first to fall, getting his queen caught on a2. Then Mendes earned a draw by repetition to get the Stars on the board. Naroditsky clinched his win by mating Sivanandan, and it was too late to turn his full attention to Lee, to whom he conceded as she was about to promote a pawn.
Final score: 2.5-1.5 Naroditsky. Details of the event can be found on chess.com.
