Checkmate: USA vs India—The Ultimate Chess Showdown

The stage is set for an exciting 5v5 clash between the USA and India–two powerhouses of the sport– coming in October, where we will witness the likes of Hikaru, Fabiano, Gukesh and Arjun putting on a show at the Esports Stadium Arlington, Texas. The organisers, ‘Checkmate SV’, will accommodate 2500 fans who will witness the chess action live in the United States.

Format & Line-up

The match will consist of 5 boards, 4 categories–

Top 2 players from each Nation

  • Hikaru Nakamura (USA World #2) vs Gukesh Dommaraju (World Champion)
  • Fabiano Caruana (USA World #5) vs Arjun Erigaisi (IND World #4)

Top female chess player

  • Carissa Yip (USA) vs Divya Deshmukh (IND)

YouTube legends

  • Levy Rozman (USA, GothamChess) vs Sagar Shah (IND, Chessbase India)

Prodigies

  • Tani Adewumi (USA) vs Ethan Vaz (IND)

coupled with a 10-minute rapid time control. In case of a draw, a 5-minute blitz game would be played followed by a 1-minute bullet game until a decisive result is recorded.
