Lichess 2025 Spring Marathon Wraps Up
Posted on April 28, 2025 BY Michael Ludwig
24 hours straight of 5+0 blitz. That was the format of the Lichess Spring Marathon, which was won by FM Ragehunter, who played 382 games! It was enough to win by 16 Arena points – 871 to 855 – and, per Lichess, was their fourth Marathon victory in a row.
In the Arena format, players are given new games directly after their last one ends, much different than the Swiss format where everyone starts at the same time for a set number of rounds. You can also join in and drop out at any time, with no need to commit to the full 24 hours!
In total, 21,169 players were involved, for a grand total of just under 190,000 chess games. The next Lichess Marathon will be 24 hours of bullet, 1+0, on August 2nd.
