GM Ushenina wins European Women’s Rapid Championship
Posted on January 13, 2025 BY Michael Ludwig
GM Anna Ushenina followed up a second place finish in the European Women’s Blitz Championship with a gold medal in the Rapid Championship. Ushenina made a 12-move draw with co-leader IM Sara Khadem in the last round for both to finish at 8.5/11. That left a window for a third co-leader, IM Yuliia Osmak, to win the tournament with a victory on board two, but she too finished with a draw. IM Eline Roebers climbed into the leading group with a last round win, but on mathematical tiebreaks, she finished fourth, behind the order Ushenina, Khadem, Osmak, matching her finish in the Blitz.
Chess-results has the full 140-player standings, and Lichess carried the live games.
