2025 Cairns Cup Halfway: Tight at the Top
Posted on June 15, 2025 BY Michael Ludwig
Five rounds in, there is a three way tie for first at the 2025 Cairns Cup, where Humpy Koneru, Alice Lee, and Harika Dronavalli sit at 3.5/5.
All three are undefeated with two wins, as is Alina Kashlinskaya in fourth with one fewer win. Koneru and Lee drew in round five and Koneru has also drawn against Kashlinskaya, which is all so far among that pack, leaving plenty of games between the leaders and room for big turns before the finish.
Tomorrow is a rest day, and then the tournament concludes over the following four days. You can follow the tournament on Chessbase, Chess.com, or Youtube.
